Manipura — The City of Jewels
"Sometimes power doesn't roar. Sometimes it's a whisper that says: I know myself."
Once daily, pause and ask: "What do I honestly want right now?" A deep breath? Saying no? Turning off your phone? Choosing yourself in small ways rebuilds deep trust.
Place a hand on your upper abdomen. Breathe. Ask: "Am I leading, or just reacting today? What would it feel like to move from choice — not fear?" Take one step toward clarity.
Say what you've been holding back: "That doesn't sit right with me." "I need more time." "Actually, I'd prefer this." Not to push away — but to return to yourself.
You may carry old echoes:
Maybe your "no" was never honored. Maybe your "enough" was always one step too far. These were not truths. They were survival adaptations.
"My needs matter. My voice matters. I matter."
The solar plexus chakra (Manipura, "city of jewels") is the third energy centre, located between the navel and the breastbone. It governs personal will, self-confidence, identity, and the inner fire that lets you act on your own behalf. When the solar plexus is healthy, you can say no without explanation, take action without seeking permission, and trust your own judgment. When it is wounded, you feel powerless, anxious in your gut, and dependent on others to define you.
The solar plexus is strengthened by acts of healthy self-assertion: keeping promises to yourself, finishing things, setting one boundary a day, taking up physical space in your body, and exposing yourself to gentle sunlight. Core-engaging movement (planks, breathwork, martial arts) physically activates the area. Yellow stones (citrine, tigers eye, yellow jasper) and the seed sound RAM support energetic activation. The inner work is reclaiming your right to disappoint people in service of your own integrity.
A blocked solar plexus chakra shows up as low self-worth, chronic indecision, people-pleasing, gut and digestive problems, lack of personal direction, and an exhausting sense that other people's opinions matter more than your own. You may struggle to start things, finish things, or stand up for yourself even when you know you are right. Emotionally, you may feel like a passenger in your own life. These signals are an invitation to rebuild personal power from the inside out.
The solar plexus chakra's primary colour is bright yellow — the colour of sunlight, fire, and gold. The element is fire, the sense is sight, and the mantra is RAM. The symbol is a ten-petalled lotus enclosing a downward-pointing red triangle of fire. Wearing yellow, eating yellow foods (lemons, ginger, turmeric, sunflower seeds), and getting morning sunlight on the belly all subtly support solar plexus activation in the everyday body.
The solar plexus chakra is most commonly blocked by experiences that taught you your power was unsafe — controlling parents, narcissistic relationships, religious shame about pride, environments where speaking up was punished, or cultures that conflate humility with self-erasure. Healing requires distinguishing between healthy power (claiming yourself) and unhealthy power (controlling others), and re-learning that asserting yourself does not make you bad. The fire is meant to be lit. It just needs honest fuel.
